Collection: Tsugaru Glass Series

  • Founding and Fishing Float Production: Hokuyo Glass started in 1949 with the production of fishing floats, gaining a reputation for durable quality and achieving the highest domestic production volume in 1973.
  • Birth of Tsugaru Vidro: Combining the chubuki (free-blowing) technique cultivated through fishing float production and self-blended colored glass, the craft product "Tsugaru Vidro," consisting of tableware and vases, was born in 1977.
  • The Start of Color (Accidental Discovery): The glass, originally colorless and transparent, changed to a deep, inexpressible green when a craftsman had the idea to add a handful of sand from Shichiri Nagahama (a beautiful beach in Aomori) as a raw material, which became the foundation for the diverse and multi-colored glass of today.
  • Craftsmanship and Designation as a Traditional Craft: The artisans have continuously strived to independently master the blending of beautiful colored glass and highly advanced techniques, leading to its current designation as a traditional craft product of Aomori Prefecture.
  • Brand Characteristics: In recent years, the brand has been developed by emphasizing "the four seasons," "the warmth of handcrafted work," and "story," with the rich, colorful glass and the creators' passion as its greatest features, adding rich color and a sense of the seasons to general lifestyle, not just tableware.
