Aomori Prefecture Melon Breeding Project
Japan Airlines X Farm HANAKOTOBA
Did you know that Aomori Prefecture is the origin of melons?
Aomori Prefecture’s melon harvest ranks fifth in the country, and Tsugaru City’s melon harvest accounts for more than 70%.
It is one of the main melon-producing areas in the country.
To improve the sustainable development of agriculture in Aomori Prefecture, Japan Airlines continues to actively respond to regional revitalization,
Following the "Aomori Apple Breeding Project", JAL has cooperated with the Farm HANAKOTOBA in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture,
Now we are grandly launching the "Melon Ownership Program".
.
The farm "HANAKOTOBA" is a family farm located in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture.
They pay attention to the "mud" farming method of the soil . They assess the conditions, do not rely on pesticides , adjust the soil according to the weather and enzymes to maintain balance and create good soil. At the same time , they use the latest farming technology to grow vegetables with their natural flavor and sweetness , even if productivity is reduced , by providing nutrients through well-prepared soil and mature compost over a long period of time.
.
The farmer , Mr. Yamazaki, is very particular about the cultivation of the farmland and other details . In addition, the farm is close to the coast of the Sea of Japan.
The high-quality sand blown from the sea is mixed with the farm's soil, and the honeydew melons grown are very juicy and sweet.
When harvest time arrives, they use high-tech technology such as optics, cameras and fruit sensors to measure sugar content, shape, ripeness, etc. for grading to ensure the sweetness and stable supply of all melons .
.
浮世離れ
"浮世" means "the mundane world", "離れ" means "leave, stay away ",
Since the order of Japanese sentence structure is: subject + object + predicate ,
Therefore, when expressing "away from the world" in Japanese , "the world" comes first and "away" comes after.
The combination of the two means "away from the world".
The farmer , Mr. Yamazaki, means that tasting the melons he grows is like being far away from the mundane world .
.
