It is one of the three major producing areas of Akoya pearls in Japan, and has Japan's proud domestic production volume. High-quality and large pearls can often be found in the waters of Ehime Prefecture. The Uwakai (the sea of Ehime) is a well-deserved sea of rich pearls. The pearls grown in such a beautiful and rich sea have been recognized by the world's top jewelers and are known as the "Peak of Akoya."

Akoya pearls are gemstones found in the ocean
Pearls produced in the Uwakai are extremely valuable both at home and abroad due to their thick nacre layer and good luster. About Akoya Pearls
Akoya pearls are gemstones produced from the Akoya oyster in the ocean. The main components of pearls are almost the same as those of shells, but the nacre layer formed by inorganic calcium and organic proteins gives pearls their unique color and luster. Unlike freshwater pearls, which can be harvested in large quantities from a single mother oyster, usually one Akoya shells can only harvest a single pearl. They grow into a variety of colors and shapes depending on the characteristics of the shellfish and ocean conditions. Some nacreous layers are thick or thin; some have good gloss and some have poor gloss; some have protrusions or depressions; some are potato-shaped or teardrop-shaped.

After collecting a large number of such pearls, they are sorted according to color, shape and size and assembled into necklaces to give them a uniform look. Although all the pearls in this necklace look the same, each one of them is actually unique in the world. Generally speaking, to be called a good pearl , it needs to have a true spherical shape, good luster, and no unevenness. However, recently, flexible pearls with unique shapes have become popular around the world. As a result, the value of pearls has also diversified and is highly valued .

The reason why "Uwakai Pearl" is able to provide high-quality pearls at affordable prices is not only due to their "appreciation ability" brought by more than 30 years of engaging in the pearl industry in Uwajima, one of Japan's main producing areas, but also because they can directly purchase pearls from manufacturers, primary and secondary processors, and primary wholesalers purchase pearls directly. They strive to provide high-quality "genuine Akoya pearls" at the lowest price, and their corporate philosophy of allowing as many people as possible to own real pearls is truly admirable.

Grade of Pearls
Compared with the pearls sold in Japan, the pearls we provide to overseas buyers are of higher grade and have a higher unit price. This is because overseas customers often have higher requirements for quality. However, Akoya pearls are a natural material, so the pearl may have some bumps or imperfections as it grows. Therefore, pearls with special titles, such as "Hanadama", must be strictly tested for their "Thicknesses", "amount of defects" and other indicators to ensure that the quality of the pearls meets the regulations.

Hanadama Identification Card

Even though each Akoya pearl looks the same , in fact each one is unique and a rare gemstone in the world. "Uwakai" has experienced craftsmen involved in everything from pearl selection to processing. They select pearls one by one , identify each pearl , and use mature technology to carefully handcraft pearl products. In order to convey the charm of these pearl products to you , all products are accompanied by an "Akoya Pearl Certificate".
