Hello everyone! I am a JAL cabin crew member from Hong Kong base.
We sincerely introduce to you the Japanese New Year decoration "Shimenawa".

Japanese New Year decorations and Shimen
Its origins can be traced back to ancient Japan, and it is often used to pray for happiness, health, safety and good luck. People would obtain shimenine from shrines or temples and place them at home, praying for the protection of the gods.
This tradition still exists today, and has even evolved into using it as a small ornament to decorate the home. Japanese shimeji are mostly red or brightly colored, and have the function of bringing good fortune, luck, and warding off evil.
Recommended placement
It can be placed at the door, entrance, living room or on top of a cabinet; the smaller ones can even be placed inside a stand. During the New Year or when moving into a new house, people will specifically buy Shimenori to place at home or give as gifts to relatives and friends, symbolizing good wishes for each other. Zhurenlian is not only a decoration, it carries people's yearning and blessings for a better life.
